Machinery One is operated by Chris Ireton, an individual operating as Machinery One ("we", "us"), 2373 Selkirk Drive, Kelowna, BC V1V 2R5. We list used equipment published on Canadian dealer websites and send visitors to the dealer. This page explains what personal information we handle and why.
Who is responsible
Our person responsible for the protection of personal information is Chris Ireton, owner. Contact: hello@machineryone.ca.
What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Which listing you clicked, which page you clicked from, and the time. We do not store your name, email, or IP address with this. | When you press "View at dealer" | To show dealers how many buyers we send them, and to keep listings accurate |
| Technical request data (IP address, browser type, pages requested) | Every visit, in our hosting provider's server logs | Security, fixing errors, preventing abuse |
| Dealership name, your name, email, phone, website, and your message | Only if you submit the dealer form | To reply to you and set up your dealer page |
| Analytics: pages you view, what you type in our search box, which "View at dealer" links you click, your approximate location, and device and browser type, collected by Google Analytics | Only if you choose "Accept all" or turn on Analytics | To understand which pages and searches are useful and improve the site (see below) |
| Advertising cookies and identifiers set by Google | Only if you choose "Accept all" or turn on Advertising | To show and measure ads (see below) |
We do not collect personal information about people who list on or are listed by dealers. Listings contain equipment details and the dealer's business name and location only. We do not publish individuals' names or phone numbers.
Cookies and advertising
The site itself works without cookies. We save one small setting in your browser to remember your cookie choice.
We show ads through Google AdSense. If you click "Accept all" (or turn on Advertising in Cookie settings), Google and its partners may set cookies or similar identifiers to select, show, and measure ads, and may use information about your visit. If you click "Accept only necessary" or "Reject all", or ignore the notice, we do not load Google's ad code. You can change your choice any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer. You can also manage Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: the pages visited, the words typed into our search box, and which "View at dealer" links are clicked. It only runs if you click "Accept all" or turn on Analytics in Cookie settings. Until then Google's analytics code is not loaded and no analytics cookie is set. Google may process this data outside Canada. You can change your choice any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer, or opt out with Google's browser add-on attools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Who we share information with
- Hosting and database providers that run the site for us (currently Vercel and Supabase). Our database is hosted in Canada. Hosting infrastructure used to deliver pages may process request data outside Canada, including in the United States.
- Google, for analytics and advertising, and only if you allowed them in Cookie settings.
- Dealers receive only a count of clicks on their listings. We do not tell them who clicked.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Click records: 24 months. Analytics data in Google Analytics: 14 months. Server logs: as kept by our hosting provider, normally under 30 days. Dealer form submissions: for as long as needed to respond and manage the dealer relationship, then deleted on request or after 24 months of inactivity.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or withdraw your consent. Email hello@machineryone.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, if you live in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Dealers: removing your listings
Dealers can ask us to remove their listings at any time through the dealer page. We remove them within 24 hours.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date above.
